It is the matter of giving more. It is the character of prefering others before oursleves (ithar) or treating people just the way we want ourself to be treated.
It is the fitrah of human, it is humanity.
It is what we find in the Quran and the Prophetic teaching, responding harshness with kindness, being patience, tolerate, ask Allah for other people forgiveness, forgive people, hold your anger... this is the message of peace, the reflection of our believe, our iman... if we fail to practice it, it will be either we are ignoring the teachings of Quran and Sunnah, or we missunderstood it.
This is what Sheikh Hamza Yusuf told us in a short video on "What is true Happiness?"... When Rasulullah s.a.w came to teach people about Islam, the very first thing he does is removing the egocentricity and humanizing people. Build a sense of brotherhood, a sense of love, respect, sympathy thay will demolished animosity and enmity.
People forget how to act like human. The one that dignified by Allah in the Quran. We lost the dignity. We fail to control of our nafs that we allow it to control us. We abandon the guide of Iman, which show us the way back to our Fitrah.
When we observe babies and children who not yet learn how to talk meet together, the moment they see each other for the first time, inspite of their differences... their smiles seems to be full of joy or start to show their interest towards each other. They will try to play together and until some point they can hit one another, although they cried but they will continue to play again as thou nothing has happen before.
God is teaching us to learn from those kids. Reminding how to treat people humanly, without forgiving and serving people we will never able to live together in peace, we will never can feel the joy and happiness seeing each other.
Badiuzzaman has conclude the cause of what our ummah are suffering from today,
-despair
-deceit
-enmity
-disunity
-invidualism
-despotism
He remind us in in one of his writings;
"The oneness of faith requiring the oneness of the hearts."
Our problem today... our faith is no longer making us loving each other, it rather drawing us more towards non-stop labelling and blaming. There is too musch reason and "agents" that bring us to this level. You name it, you can blame them too. But the one that suffering the illness will be the first person struggling to cure itself.
I pray to Allah (I hope all of us too) that one day, this ummah faith will be rectified, so that our heart can reunite, walking together in His path, with His please and His guide.
Because the only one that can show us the way out is Him.
